Dr Alistair Lang (Chiropractor)

B.Sc (Chiropractic) B.Chiro (Distinction)
Practice Owner and Director

Doctor Alistair Lang (Chiropractor) graduated with distinction from Murdoch University, completing a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Chiropractic. Eager to learn, Alistair began studying additional Chiropractic techniques during his degrees. He was also invited to work for his Neurology lecturer in private Chiropractic practice and gained valuable experience caring for children and adults with special needs. Alistair and his wife Dr Christine Lang (Chiropractor) took the opportunity to become the new owners of Your Body Works in 2016.

Applied Kinesiology, Retained Neonatal Reflexes, Gonstead, Thompson, Carrick Institute Clinical Neuroscience, Advanced Bio-structural Correction, Neuro-Emotional Technique, Neural Organisation Technique and Sacro Occipital Technique are some of the Chiropractic techniques and courses Alistair has studied. In 2018 Alistair will complete a Diplomate of Chiropractic Paediatrics with the Australian College of Chiropractic Paediatrics.

Alistair’s passion is to see that Your Body Works to its full potential.

Alistair is passionate about natural health and wellness for everyone. “Wellness is making sustainable healthy lifestyle choices that encompass the physical, nutritional and emotional aspects of your health… so that your body works to its full potential, all day, and every day.”

When you come to Your Body Works for the first time, Dr Alistair will listen carefully and take detailed notes before performing a comprehensive orthopaedic, neurologic and chiropractic examination so that he can understand how your body works.

If you’re bringing your baby, toddler or child for the first time, a paediatric examination or neurodevelopmental milestone assessment will be conducted also. The examination findings and results from any additional tests are then compiled ready for your next visit.  Dr Alistair will then take the time to explain his findings and make personalised recommendations for you.

When he’s not caring for families at Your Body Works, Alistair manages to balance his time between his personal projects (training for his next big cycling adventure or race, racing motorcycles, restoring old things or building something new) and his desire to be a great Father and Husband for his three Sons (Ethan 10, Callum 8 & Baby Lang is due to join the family in March 2018) and his wife Christine.

Anything else worth noting about Dr Christine’s studies?

Yes, of course!  Christine has completed post graduate courses in pregnancy care and is also Diplomate of Chiropractic Paediatrics. Christine utilises various chiropractic techniques depending on individual needs including both manual and lower force techniques – AK (Applied Kinesiology), SOT (Sacro-Occipital Technique), NOT (Neuro Organisation Technique), Diversified & Webster’s Technique.

I chose to become a Chiropractor because… I have been fortunate to have had chiropractic care from a very young age.  It also opened the door to a fantastic career where I can do what I love. In my final years of high school, I had the opportunity to work as a chiropractic assistant, where I observed many amazing changes as a result of chiropractic care. This cemented my decision to become a chiropractor.

Who or what inspires you?

I love working with Mums & kids!  I love the continuation of learning which enables me to provide you with the very best possible care. I look forward to meeting you personally, caring for you and your loved ones and observing the amazing changes that chiropractic care can provide.

Dr Susan Walker (Chiropractor)

BSc (Anatomy), MChiro, DIBAK

What do the letters mean after Dr Susan’s name?

It means that Dr Susan was awarded from the University of Queensland a Bachelor of Science majoring in Anatomy (three years)
From Macquarie University she was awarded a Master of Chiropractic  (two years)
From the International College of Applied Kinesiology she obtained Certification in Applied Kinesiology (one year)
and her Diplomate of the International Board of Applied Kinesiology (minimum 3 years)

Anything else worth noting about Dr Susan’s studies?
Did you know that Dr Susan is not only an excellent Applied Kinesiology practitioner, she is also one of only a handful of AK practitioners in Australia who have achieved the status of Diplomate of the International Board of Applied Kinesiology. This has resulted in Susan frequently travelling throughout Australia and overseas teaching people this amazing technique.

I chose to become a Chiropractor because... my 13 year old sister broke her coccyx when she was pushed over at school. The doctors recommended pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants. Instead of taking their advice, my Mum took her to a Chiropractor, and to me, at the ripe old age of 11, what they said simply made too much sense!

Tell us something from your childhood that you feel helped shape who you are today? My Mum and Dad worked hard and every September they travelled the world. Our kitchen wall had over a dozen giant photos of them out the front of impressive landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and Great Wall of China. It made us all understand the importance of working hard and putting the nurturing of our relationships with our spouse first.

Of all of the ‘hats’ that you wear, which one challenges you the most (in a good way!)? My teaching role that takes me all over the world has always had me on the edge of my comfort zone. I think that’s where our nervous system adapts and we can then dare to strive even further.

Proudest life accomplishment to date? Speaking in front of 500 doctors in Washington DC for the International College of Applied Kinesiology 50th Anniversary Conference. It was a blast!

What do the letters mean after Dr Joanna’s name?

It means that Dr Joanna was awarded from Macquarie University a Bachelor of Science (three years) and a Master of Chiropractic (two years)

Anything else worth noting about Dr Joanna’s studies?
Yes actually there is. As well has her studies in Applied Kinesiology (AK), Dr Joanna has also utilises Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). NET acknowledges the relationship between the body’s emotional health, environmental toxicity, nutritional balance and structural integrity.

I chose to become a Chiropractor because... I’ve always been interested In helping people with their injuries. I did ballet as a child and had to see a Physiotherapist and get remedial massage when I had injuries. People often told me I had strong hands and should do massage or something similar. Then when I was studying at University I went to see my first Chiropractor for headaches and migraines and after that I knew that chiropractic was what I needed to do. I haven’t looked back!

Who or what inspires you?  Oohhhh…  lots of different things; from people’s strength and determination, to my family and hearing their laughter (in between them trying to rumble each other). The joys of raising three boys!

Simply, I just love kids! I am excited to be of service to mothers and babies (and other family members too) at Your Body Works. I look forward to meeting you at the clinic.

What do the letters mean after Dr Lina's name?

Why did you become a Chiropractor?

I have to admit I did not know much about being a chiropractor when I first enrolled in the course. It is amazing how life takes you on a journey and you find your passion along the way! I live and breathe chiropractic now! My favourite part of my career is educating people on chiropractic and their health and empowering THEM to make their OWN health decisions. Education is power!

Who or what inspires you?

Improving people’s lives. I love seeing people improve under my care, especially the little ones. Whether it is improved attachment to mum, feeding like a pro, long and settled sleeping patterns or lessened colic, it all makes me happy! Improving the first few years of children’s lives improves the lives of the whole family. Everybody sleeps and everybody can function better.
