Neuro-Developmental Assessments

At your Body Works, we are passionate about children and their developing minds and bodies; and we understand the unique complexities of child-focused treatment.

Our extensive training in newborn care, childhood issues and childhood growth enables us to offer the pediatric skills necessary to provide patients with a high level of specialty care and expertise.

The Your Body Works Neuro-developmental Assessment can identify retained primitive reflexes, gross and fine motor difficulties, visual and auditory processing delays.

The assessment is designed to be a low stress session for your child.  We use standardised tests involving balance, coordination, muscle strength and memory to name a few. These tests can help us to identify abnormalities that may affect your child’s ability to process and respond appropriately to sensory stimuli that they see, hear and feel.

The retention of Moro, ATNR, STNR and TLR primitive reflexes are associated with AD/HD symptoms and decreased mathematics achievement…. Integration of retained primitive reflexes can prevent many difficulties which children can encounter within their social and school life.1

Persistence of primitive reflexes after infancy can be an indicator of atypical development in childhood…..over 25% of pre-school children demonstrated significant retained primitive reflexes.2
